External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono co-chaired the 8th India-Indonesia Joint Commission Meeting in New Delhi on Sunday.
They reviewed key areas of cooperation under the two countries' Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The discussions covered a wide range of sectors, including trade, maritime security, digital connectivity, infrastructure, healthcare and people-to-people exchanges.
The meeting comes as both nations continue to deepen their bilateral engagement across strategic and economic domains.
After the meeting, taking to X, Indonesian Foreign Minister posted, "Delighted to co-chair the 8th Indonesia-India Joint Commission Meeting with @DrSJaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India in New Delhi (7/6). We discussed key priorities under the Indonesia-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, from trade and maritime security to digital connectivity, infrastructure, health and people-to-people ties."
Sugiono also expressed anticipation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's forthcoming visit to Indonesia.
"Looking forward to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Jakarta. The visit will be an important opportunity to further deepen our cooperation and deliver tangible benefits for our peoples," the post read.
Jaishankar described the meeting as productive and highlighted the growing strength of bilateral ties.
Taking to X, the External Affairs Minister posted, "A pleasure to co-chair the 8th India - Indonesia Joint Commission meeting alongside FM Sugiono @Kemlu_RI. Our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has witnessed a strong growth in recent years."
The External Affairs Minister said both sides held detailed discussions on political relations. They also discussed defence and security, as well as maritime and shipping cooperation.
Other areas of focus included trade, fintech, health, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, critical minerals, tourism, education and cultural exchanges.
Jaishankar added that the two Ministers also reviewed regional developments, multilateral coordination and efforts to strengthen India-ASEAN ties.
India and Indonesia elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2018 during Prime Minister Modi's visit to Jakarta.
Earlier this year, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visited India as the Chief Guest for the 76th Republic Day celebrations. The visit coincided with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
