India Instructs Nationals In Iran To Refrain From Unplanned Travel Toward Land Borders

India has again cautioned its citizens residing in Iran not to attempt travel towards land borders without prior approval from the Indian mission in Tehran.

In a fresh advisory issued on Monday, the Embassy of India in Tehran urged nationals to refrain from approaching or crossing any Iranian land border unless the movement is formally coordinated with embassy officials.

Authorities emphasised that such steps are essential to ensure safe passage during the ongoing regional instability.

The advisory reiterated that the mission remains in constant communication with members of the Indian community across Iran.

Officials stated that coordinated arrangements will be made wherever necessary to assist citizens requiring relocation or evacuation.

The embassy also strongly discouraged unplanned travel towards border crossing points.

It warned that individuals attempting to exit Iran without official coordination could encounter severe logistical hurdles and immigration complications.

Officials further clarified that the embassy would not be able to provide assistance to citizens once they leave Iranian territory without prior guidance and fail to gain entry into a neighbouring country.

Meanwhile, the first group of more than 70 Indian students stranded in Iran safely arrived in New Delhi.

The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association confirmed the development on Sunday.

Association convenor Nasir Khuehami stated that the students, most of them from Jammu and Kashmir, travelled through Armenia and Dubai before boarding a commercial flight to India.

The journey involved coordinated land and air transit arranged by the authorities. Students first travelled by bus from various Iranian cities to Armenia.

They later flew from Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan to Dubai and then boarded a connecting flight to Delhi.

Many of these students studied at institutions such as Urmia University of Medical Sciences and Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

Earlier, the Indian Embassy had relocated several of them to safer areas amid the deteriorating security environment.

The association thanked the Ministry of External Affairs and embassy officials for facilitating the safe return of the students during the challenging crisis.
