Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill and opener Sai Sudharsan played explosive knocks to help their side reach a daunting 229/4 against Rajasthan Royals in Saturday's IPL 2026 contest in Jaipur.

After Rajasthan stand-in skipper Yashasvi Jaiswal chose to field first, Gujarat's batters immediately took charge on a surface favourable for stroke-making. Jofra Archer endured a difficult opening over, conceding 18 runs as the visitors gained early momentum.

Sudharsan attacked confidently from the beginning, finding boundaries with ease through the off-side and square of the wicket. Gill soon joined the assault with elegant timing and aggressive intent.

Rajasthan's bowlers failed to maintain consistency during the powerplay, allowing Gujarat Titans to storm to 82 without loss in the first six overs, matching their best IPL powerplay score.

The opening pair raised their 100-run partnership in only 8.1 overs and continued to dominate with fluent strokeplay and quick running between the wickets. The stand also marked their sixth-century partnership together in IPL history.

Yash Raj Punja finally broke the partnership after Sudharsan miscued an attacking shot to long-on. The left-handed batter scored an impressive 55 from 36 deliveries, including six fours and two maximums.

Gill maintained the attacking tempo and brought up another well-crafted half-century during a commanding innings. Jos Buttler briefly entertained with aggressive strokes before Ravindra Jadeja dismissed him for 13.

The Gujarat skipper looked set for a century before departing for a superb 84 off just 44 balls. His innings featured nine boundaries and three sixes and kept Gujarat firmly on course for a huge total.

Washington Sundar accelerated brilliantly in the final overs, remaining unbeaten on 37 from 20 deliveries. The all-rounder struck several powerful boundaries to further frustrate Rajasthan's bowlers.

Rahul Tewatia added the finishing touches by smashing two sixes in the final over. Gujarat Titans collected 21 runs from the last six balls of the innings.

For Rajasthan Royals, Ravindra Jadeja returned the best bowling figures with 1/34, while Brijesh Sharma and Yash Raj Punja chipped in with one wicket apiece. The hosts, however, once again struggled with the ball, conceding another 200-plus total this season.

Gujarat Titans 229/4 in 20 overs (Shubman Gill 84, Sai Sudharsan 55, Washington Sundar 37*; Ravindra Jadeja 1/34) against Rajasthan Royals.
