Bollywood star Jackie Shroff remembered Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on Wednesday as the nation observed the poet's 164th birth anniversary.
Using his social media account, Jackie posted a monochrome photograph of the literary legend and honoured his immense contribution to Indian culture and literature.
The image carried the message, "Rabindranath Tagore Ji Jayanti (7 May 1861 - 7 Aug 1941)."
The actor also added the classic Rabindra Sangeet composition 'Esho Shyamolo Sundoro' to the story. The song is regarded as one of Tagore's notable musical works inspired by the charm of Lord Krishna's dark complexion.
Born on May 7, 1861, Rabindranath Tagore is widely regarded as one of India's greatest literary and cultural figures.
In 1913, he became the first non-European recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature for his renowned poetry collection Gitanjali.
Throughout his lifetime, Tagore produced a vast body of literary work that included poems, essays, novels and plays. He also composed more than 2,000 songs, later recognised collectively as Rabindra Sangeet.
Among his most celebrated compositions are Ekla Chalo Re, Jana Gana Mana and Amar Shonar Bangla.
Jackie Shroff is often appreciated for paying homage to influential personalities and legendary figures on important occasions such as birth anniversaries and memorial dates.
In his acting career, Jackie rose to fame with the film Hero, directed by filmmaker Subhash Ghai. He is also the father of actor Tiger Shroff and television personality Krishna Shroff.
The tribute once again highlighted Tagore's timeless influence on Indian art, music and literature.
