The Pune Rural Police on Thursday recovered the clothes allegedly worn by the prime accused, Siya Goyal, on the day Pune-based businessman and realtor Ketan Agarwal was killed.
The clothes were seized from her residence after a police team escorted her there and will be sent for forensic examination to determine whether they contain evidence that could help establish the sequence of events.
Police have alleged that Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary meticulously planned the murder and even rehearsed it before carrying out the crime at Lohagad Fort in Pune district.
Investigators conducted a crime scene reconstruction at an open ground in Pune's Lullanagar area, where the accused allegedly practised pushing Agarwal off a cliff and assessed the consequences before the incident. A detailed panchnama of the site has been prepared for submission before the court.
Ketan Agarwal, 26, died after allegedly being pushed from a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Goyal, 20, and her alleged lover, Chaudhary, 22, remain in police custody until July 3.
Police are also seeking court permission to conduct polygraph tests on both accused to verify their statements.
The investigation has further revealed that the duo allegedly searched online for methods to kill Agarwal, visited Lohagad Fort in advance to familiarise themselves with the location, and prepared responses in case they were questioned.
According to investigators, Chaudhary travelled to the fort on a scooter to avoid electronic toll records and reduce CCTV detection.
He also allegedly wore a hoodie during the trek to conceal his identity. Police believe the murder plan had been finalised by the end of May. The investigation is ongoing.
