Nominations For Padma Awards 2027 To Close By July 31: Home Ministry

The Union Home Ministry has fixed July 31 as the final date for submitting nominations and recommendations for the Padma Awards 2027. Authorities will confer these prestigious civilian honours on the occasion of Republic Day 2027.

Officials launched the nomination process on March 15. They mandated that applicants submit entries exclusively through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal.

The Ministry emphasised strict adherence to the prescribed digital format.

The Padma Awards, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri rank among India's highest civilian distinctions.

These honours recognise exceptional service and distinguished achievements across diverse disciplines, including art, education, sports, medicine, science, public affairs, and industry.

The Ministry directed that each nomination must include complete details as specified on the portal.

Applicants must attach a citation, written in narrative form, within an 800-word limit. This citation should clearly outline the nominee's outstanding contribution in their respective field.

Authorities have also made comprehensive information available on the Ministry's official website under 'Awards and Medals'.

The statutes and regulations governing the awards remain accessible for reference.

Instituted in 1954, the Padma Awards continue to uphold excellence without discrimination based on occupation, status, gender, or background.

However, government employees, except doctors and scientists, remain ineligible.

The government reiterated its vision of transforming these honours into 'People's Padma'.

It encouraged citizens to nominate deserving individuals, including self-nominations.

Officials urged focused efforts to identify achievers from women, SC/ST communities, divyang individuals, and other marginalised groups who have rendered selfless service to society.
