Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted the people of Telangana on Statehood Day and reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to supporting the state's development as part of the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Telangana observes Statehood Day on 2 June each year to commemorate its formation in 2014. The state became India's 29th state after a long movement for self-governance, cultural identity and development.
In a post on X, Modi praised the people of Telangana for their innovation, enterprise and determination. He also celebrated the state's rich cultural heritage and history, describing Telangana as a land of courage and resilience.
"Greetings to the people of Telangana on the special occasion of Telangana Statehood Day. The people of Telangana are known for their spirit of innovation and enterprise. The state is known for its glorious culture and history, one of courage and determination," he said.
The Prime Minister further reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to Telangana's development and wished the people health, prosperity and success.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted the people of Telangana and expressed confidence that the state would achieve greater progress and prosperity. He praised Telangana's vibrant culture and entrepreneurial spirit, saying its achievements enhance India's pride.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy paid tribute to those who fought for Telangana's statehood and remembered their sacrifices while highlighting the state's future aspirations.
Telangana Statehood Day is a public holiday across all 33 districts. The celebrations include official events, cultural programmes and the Chief Minister's flag-hoisting ceremony at the Secunderabad Parade Ground.
