PM Narendra Modi To Inaugurate Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor; Travel Time To Reduce To 2.5 Hours

Bharat Express 1 month ago

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor on Tuesday afternoon.

Ahead of the ceremony, PM Modi will inspect a wildlife corridor in Saharanpur.

He will also offer prayers at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple at approximately 11:40 AM.

The inauguration event will take place at around 12:30 PM in Dehradun, where he will address a public gathering.

The 213-kilometre-long, six-lane, access-controlled corridor has been developed at a cost exceeding Rs 12,000 crore. It spans Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

The project will reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours to nearly two and a half hours.

Authorities have constructed 10 interchanges, three railway overbridges, four major bridges, and 12 wayside amenities.

The corridor integrates an Advanced Traffic Management System to enhance safety and operational efficiency.

Designers have incorporated multiple ecological safeguards to protect biodiversity.

A 12-kilometre elevated wildlife corridor forms a key feature, ranking among the longest in Asia.

The project also includes eight animal crossings, two 200-metre elephant underpasses, and a 370-metre tunnel near the temple.

Officials emphasised that the corridor will strengthen regional economic growth. It will improve connectivity between tourism hubs and commercial centres, fostering trade and development.

The initiative reflects the government's focus on modern infrastructure that balances speed, sustainability, and improved quality of life.
