Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a two-day campaign in Chennai and Puducherry on Friday, intensifying efforts to secure support for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory.

Sources reported that the Prime Minister will arrive at Chennai International Airport on Friday afternoon and will travel directly to Puducherry to address a major public rally that evening.

The event aims to rally voters behind Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates and alliance partners ahead of the April 9 polling in Puducherry.

Following the rally, PM Modi will return to Chennai that night.

Security agencies and local authorities have implemented elaborate arrangements, including multiple layers of security, traffic diversions, and restrictions, to ensure safe and smooth movement during the visit.

On Saturday, the Prime Minister will meet around 100 party functionaries, grassroots organisers, and key stakeholders in Chennai.

The closed-door session will focus on booth-level mobilisation and fine-tuning campaign strategies ahead of Tamil Nadu's April 23 polls.

Later in the day, PM Modi will participate in an election campaign supporting the NDA candidate in Mylapore, one of Chennai's politically important constituencies.

Party sources have also indicated plans for a roadshow, potentially through areas such as T Nagar, with the final route yet to be confirmed.

The visit represents a significant push by the BJP leadership to consolidate its presence in Tamil Nadu and reinforce its campaign in Puducherry, highlighting the strategic importance of southern states for the NDA ahead of the elections.
