Bharat Express News Network Chairman, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief Upendrra Rai described SOLDIERATHON 2026 as a symbol of patriotism and respect for India's Armed Forces while addressing participants at Delhi's Cariappa Parade Ground.
He thanked President Droupadi Murmu for flagging off the marathon, calling it a proud moment for the nation.
CMD Rai said this year's SOLDIERATHON honoured the President's Bodyguard (PBG) and launched a fundraiser for the horses that serve at major national ceremonies.
Calling SOLDIERATHON more than a marathon, CMD Rai said it represents the nation's gratitude towards its soldiers.
"Walking even two steps with our soldiers is a matter of pride," he said, adding that he has supported the movement since its inception and will continue to do so.
He credited General VK Singh, Major DP Singh, Lieutenant General Bhudev Parida, the President's Secretariat and Secretary Deepti Umashankar for organising the event successfully within a short period.
CMD Rai said the Bharat Express family considers it a privilege to support an initiative dedicated to India's soldiers. He noted that Major DP Singh launched SOLDIERATHON in 2012, and the campaign has continued to grow every year.
CMD Upendrra Rai said organisers arranged medical facilities and other logistics for over 10,000 participants and thanked Wonder Cement, ONGC, Bhutani Infra, Cupid Limited, GEL, DIG and SBI for their support.
He praised the enthusiastic participation of young people, saying they represent India's future, and thanked parents for encouraging them to join the campaign.
Flagged off by President Droupadi Murmu, SOLDIERATHON 2026 saw thousands of runners honour martyrs, injured veterans and serving soldiers, celebrating patriotism and national unity.
