South Korean President Lee Jae Myung Receives Ceremonial Welcome In India

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung received a ceremonial reception at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday, marking the formal commencement of his state visit to India.

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a warm welcome to the visiting dignitary.

Children dressed in traditional attire greeted President Lee, holding both the South Korean national flag and the Indian Tricolour, adding a cultural touch to the occasion.

President Lee arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for a three-day state visit, accompanied by First Lady Kim Hea Kyung and a senior delegation. Minister of State Harsh Malhotra received him at the airport.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also met the South Korean President.

Taking to X, he posted, "Honoured to call on President @Jaemyung_Leeof the Republic of Korea as he begins his State Visit to India. Value his commitment to deepen India - Korea relations across multiple domains."

"Confident that his talks tomorrow with PM @narendramodiwill further strengthen our Special Strategic Partnership," the post read.

President Lee will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi. The discussions will focus on shipbuilding, trade, investments, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and emerging technologies. Discussions will also cover cultural exchanges and global issues.

The Prime Minister will host a lunch, while President Murmu will host a banquet in his honour. President Lee will also pay tribute at Raj Ghat.

The MEA noted that the visit reflects shared aspirations to expand cooperation rooted in democratic values and civilisational ties.
