Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a comprehensive 65-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the sixth match of the Indian Premier League 2026 at Eden Gardens on Thursday.
The win marked SRH's first success of the season, while KKR suffered their second consecutive defeat.
Batting first after losing the toss, SRH posted an imposing 226 for eight in their allotted overs. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma built the innings with a blistering opening stand, adding 82 runs in just 5.4 overs.
Head struck 46 off 21 balls, including three sixes and six fours. Abhishek contributed 48 from 21 deliveries, hitting four sixes and four boundaries.
Following the early momentum, SRH lost wickets in quick succession and slipped to 118 for four in 9.2 overs.
At that stage, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy rebuilt the innings with a crucial 82-run partnership for the fifth wicket in 53 balls.
Klaasen scored a composed 52 off 35 balls, featuring one six and four fours, while Nitish added a valuable 39 runs.
For KKR, Blessing Muzarabani was the standout bowler with four wickets, while Vaibhav Arora picked up two. Kartik Tyagi and Anukul Roy claimed one wicket each.
Chasing 227, KKR were bowled out for 161 in 16 overs. Finn Allen provided a rapid start, scoring 28 off just seven balls, including two sixes and four fours, and shared a 30-run opening stand with captain Ajinkya Rahane.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi then added 37 runs for the second wicket with Rahane, who scored eight. Raghuvanshi further built a 46-run partnership with Rinku Singh for the fourth wicket. Rinku made 35 runs, while Raghuvanshi scored 52 off 29 balls, but their efforts proved insufficient.
For SRH, Jaydev Unadkat led the bowling attack with three wickets, while Eshan Malinga and Nitish Reddy picked up two wickets each. Harsh Dubey also contributed with one wicket.
SRH have gained momentum early in the tournament with this convincing victory. KKR will need to regroup quickly to stay competitive in the ongoing season.
