The Indian cricket board has unveiled the India 'A' squad for the forthcoming 50-over tri-series in Sri Lanka. Tilak Varma has been entrusted with the captaincy.
The competition will take place in Dambulla from June 9 to June 21. It will feature Sri Lanka 'A' and Afghanistan 'A'.
A key development in the squad announcement is the inclusion of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He has received his first call-up to the India 'A' side.
The talented opener has delivered standout performances across formats. He also played a match-winning role in India's Under-19 World Cup victory and earned top individual honours.
Alongside him, Priyansh Arya has also been rewarded for his performances. His consistent and aggressive displays, particularly in the IPL, have established him as a promising young batter.
Tilak Varma brings valuable leadership experience. He has previously captained India 'A' in multiple assignments, including the Emerging Teams Asia Cup and a one-day series against South Africa 'A'. He will be supported by vice-captain Riyan Parag.
The squad further includes players such as Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, and Harsh Dubey. Wicketkeeping responsibilities have been assigned to Prabhsimran Singh and Kumar Kushagra.
India 'A' will open their campaign against Sri Lanka 'A' on June 9, before facing Afghanistan 'A' on June 11. The league stage will run until June 19, followed by the final on June 21.
Additionally, the team is set to play two multi-day matches against Sri Lanka 'A' in Galle, with the squad for those fixtures to be announced in due course.
The series is expected to play a crucial role in grooming emerging players and strengthening India's cricketing pipeline.
By blending experienced performers with young talent, the squad reflects a clear focus on long-term development and readiness for higher levels of competition.
