Hollywood star Tom Cruise has expressed excitement as his 1996 film Jerry Maguire prepares to return to cinemas to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Sharing a poster of the film on social media, Cruise said he was eager for audiences to experience it again on the big screen in the coming days.

Directed by Cameron Crowe, the romantic sports drama gained lasting popularity for its memorable lines, including 'show me the money' and 'you complete me'.

The film also featured performances by Cuba Gooding Jr., Renée Zellweger, Kelly Preston and Regina King, among others.

The story drew partly on real-life sports agent Leigh Steinberg and his experiences during the early 1990s.

Cruise, who rose to prominence in the 1980s with films such as Top Gun and 'Risky Business', went on to build a wide-ranging career spanning drama, action and science fiction. His filmography includes titles such as Rain Man, A Few Good Men, the Mission: Impossible franchise and Top Gun: Maverick.

The actor is currently working on an upcoming project titled Digger, directed by Alejandro G Iñárritu. The film features an ensemble cast including Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller and Riz Ahmed.

Cruise is set to play the lead role of Digger Rockwell in the project, which is described as a satirical story centred on power and global crisis.

With its re-release, Jerry Maguire will likely draw both long-time fans and new viewers back to theatres, three decades after its original debut.
