Bajaj has expanded its Chetak electric scooter lineup with the launch of the Chetak C2501 at Rs 91,399 (ex-showroom). It has been positioned as the most affordable, entry-level model under the Chetak electric sub-brand.

Familiar Retro Design

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 continues with the brand's retro-inspired design and despite its lower pricing, retains full metal body panels. The C2501 is offered in six colours: Misty Yellow, Ocean Teal, Racing Red, Active Black, Opalescent Silver, and Classic White.

Battery, Range, And Charging

The Chetak C2501 has a 2.5kWh NMC (Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery pack that's floorboard mounted, just like the other electric (Chetak) Bajaj scooters. It delivers a claimed range of 113km, and charging duties are handled by a 750W off-board unit. Bajaj claims a 0-80% charge time of 2 hours 25 minutes, while a full charge takes just about under 4 hours.

Motor And Performance

The Chetak C2501 uses a 2.2kW peak (1.8kW continuous) hub-mounted motor. The top speed is 55kmph, it gets a reverse mode, hill-hold assist, and 2 ride modes: Eco, Sports.

Underpinnings

The scooter weighs 107kg kerb, suspended by a telescopic fork and dual shock absorbers. Braking is handled by a front disc brake and a rear drum brake. The seat height is pretty low at 763mm and adequate ground clearnce of 170mm. It gets 12-inch wheels with 80-section tyres at both ends.

Features And Practicality

The scooter gets all-LED lighting, a colour LCD instrument console, and a USB charging port on the apron. You can add features like follow me headlamps, call and music controls via the optional 'TecPac' that costs Rs 3,000. In terms of practicality, the scooter offers 25 litres of underseat storage.

The new Chetak C2501 will take on competitors like the (Hero) Vida VX2, Ola S1 X, TVS Orbiter, Ather Rizta, Honda QC1, and base-spec TVS iQube.
