It costs about Rs 8000 more than the base LCD console variant!
Quick Highlights
Gets a new 5-inch TFT console borrowed from the KTM 200 Duke
It features turn-by-turn navigation, call alerts & even music controls
Remains mechanically unchanged
KTM India has launched a new 160 Duke variant, with a 5-inch TFT console. It is the same unit as seen on the KTM 200 Duke. This new variant is priced at Rs 1,78,536 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it Rs 7,991 more expensive than the base LCD variant. With this update, KTM has now made its entire Duke lineup uniform as all bikes get a TFT console. This new variant makes the KTM 160 Duke a little more tech-focused than before. Just like the LCD console on the base variant, the TFT unit also supports smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth, offering turn-by-turn navigation, call alerts and music controls. Importantly, the information displayed remains the same on both consoles, including speed, rpm, gear position, fuel level, trip data, and warning indicators.
The difference is mainly in presentation, with the TFT offering sharper graphics. Whether it's easier to read in the real-world is something we'll have to test and see. The console also allows headset pairing, setting shift RPM, and changing display themes. Also, note that the call alerts only allow the rider to pick up the calls, and not make them. This is deliberately designed keeping road safety in mind. Other than the new console, the bike remains unchanged in almost every aspect. The engine, chassis, suspension setup, brakes, and overall riding dynamics continue to be identical to the standard 160 Duke, ensuring the same performance and riding experience.
BikeDekho Says
The TFT-equipped KTM 160 Duke makes sense for buyers who want a more premium and modern display, but is a little too expensive compared to the base variant. For this kind of premium, we feel KTM should've thrown in traction control as a value addition. However, if you are not that tech-savvy, the base LCD variant still makes a lot of sense, as it costs Rs 7,991 less while offering the same features and performance.
All said and done, the new KTM Duke 160 variant with the TFT screen is finally closer to its rival, the Yamaha MT-15, in terms of features. Planning to buy the KTM 160 Duke on EMI? Check out our detailed EMI guide. Also, here is how the KTM 160 Duke competes with the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
