A closer look at Triumph's baby scrambler from all sides

Triumph has recently launched the 350cc version of the Scrambler 400 X in India.

The bike remains unchanged in terms of design and hardware, with the only update being the smaller engine. The 350cc model has been priced at Rs 2,59,241 (ex-showroom, Delhi) - making it Rs 10,736 more affordable than before. Here's a closer look:

Looks

The Triumph Scrambler 400 X continues with its rugged and purposeful design. It gets a tall stance, wide handlebar, a round LED headlamp, and a high-mounted front fender - giving it a proper old-school scrambler look. The fuel tank has a clean design with knee recesses and gets rubber tank pads for grip.

Details

  • Rugged scrambler design with a tall stance

  • Round LED headlamp and high front fender add to its appeal

  • Premium fit, finish, and quality levels

Colours

The Scrambler 400 X is offered in the same 4 colours as before: Matt Khaki Green/Fusion White, Volcanic Red/Phantom Black, Pearl Metallic White/Phantom Black, and Phantom Black/Silver Ice.

Details

  • Each shade complements the rugged design

  • The matte finish colours offer a more subtle look

Engine

The Scrambler 400 is now powered by a 349cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 37PS and 32Nm. This is a downsized version of the earlier 398cc motor, now making 3PS and 5.5Nm less than before. It continues to be paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.

Details

  • Smooth and usable performance for daily commutes

  • Slightly lower output compared to the earlier version

Features

The 400 X continues with an analogue speedometer and digital inset that displays the odometer, tachometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, distance-to-empty. It still has all-LED lighting, ride-by-wire, switchable traction control, and dual-channel ABS with switchable rear ABS. However, the engine immobiliser has been removed.

Details

  • Simple and easy-to-read console

  • Still misses out on Bluetooth connectivity
