Hero MotoCorp recently launched the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel in India. At a glance, it may look like a regular commuter bike, but it packs some important technology upgrades aimed at making daily commuting cleaner, safer, and much more efficient.
Flex Fuel Technology - The Biggest Highlight
Here, the standout feature is Hero's new Flex Fuel system. The HF Deluxe Flex Fuel can run on ethanol-petrol blends ranging from E20 all the way up to E85, meaning the fuel can contain up to 85 percent ethanol. To make this possible, Hero has equipped the bike with a revised ECU, upgraded fuel system components, and engine calibration designed specifically for higher ethanol content. This makes the bike more future-ready as India gradually increases ethanol adoption while also reducing dependence on conventional petrol.
Hero's i3S Technology
The Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel also gets Hero's patented i3S (Idle Stop-Start System). In traffic, when the bike is stationary in neutral, the system automatically switches off the engine to save fuel. As soon as the rider pulls in the clutch, the engine restarts instantly. It's a simple feature, but one that can help improve fuel efficiency, especially in stop-and-go city traffic.
Safety Features
Safety has also been improved with the addition of a side stand engine cut-off system. If the side stand is down, the motorcycle will not move off, reducing the risk of accidents caused by forgetting to retract the stand before riding. This is a particularly useful feature for newer riders and everyday commuters.
Other than this, it also gets a combined braking system, or IBS (integrated braking system), which basically makes the braking performance much safer. When the rear brake is applied, a slight percentage of the front brakes are also engaged for better braking.
New Semi-Digital Instrument Console
Hero has also given the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel an updated instrument cluster . It's a twin-pod semi-digital console featuring an analogue speedometer along with a digital fuel gauge and other ride information, making it more modern and easier to read.
