KTM 350cc Bikes Launch: 390 Range Will Not Be Discontinued

Downsized KTMs are coming, but most of the iconic 390s are not going anywhere… yet

Bajaj is preparing to introduce downsized versions of its current KTM 390cc bikes, but the existing models will not disappear immediately.

Instead, the company plans to sell both the current 398cc and upcoming 350cc variants side-by-side for a certain period. This will allow Bajaj to evaluate how customers respond to the smaller-capacity versions while still keeping the established 390 lineup available.

KTM 390 Duke To Get A 350cc Sibling

One of the biggest changes will take place in KTM's streetfighter lineup. The Duke range will soon include both 350cc and 390cc versions. This means the KTM 390 Duke will remain on sale in India with its existing 398cc engine, while a new 350cc Duke will be introduced alongside it.

Adventure Lineup To See A More Complex Shift

The changes within the Adventure lineup will be more nuanced. The KTM 390 Adventure X is expected to be replaced entirely by the 350cc version, meaning the current Adventure X will eventually be discontinued. This new 350cc model will effectively take over its role as the more accessible Adventure.

However, the higher-spec adventure models will remain unchanged. Both the KTM 390 Adventure and more hardcore Adventure R will continue to use the 398cc engine and stay positioned as the more performance-oriented ADV options.

Two Versions Of The 390 Enduro R Could Be Sold

For India, this KTM bike is expected to be downsized to a 350cc and it might also receive India-specific suspension (which we see on the 390 Adventure R). At the same time, the international-spec KTM 390 Enduro R could be sold alongside it. This version will retain the larger engine and come equipped with the long-travel suspension setup (similar to the Adventure R) designed for more serious off-road riding.

RC Lineup Unlikely To Be Downsized

Unlike the Duke and Adventure models, the RC range is unlikely to move to a 350cc platform in the near future. The KTM RC 390 currently has the older 373cc engine and, for now, there are no strong indications that KTM plans to introduce a 350cc version of the fully-faired motorcycle.

Why KTM Would Want To Keep The 390 Alive

The KTM 390 range has built a strong identity in India over the years. The 390 Duke is widely regarded as one of the most accessible high-performance naked motorcycles, while the 390 Adventure has carved out a reputation for offering serious touring capability at a relatively attainable price point.

Because of this strong brand recall, the brand may not want to abruptly discontinue the larger engine variants.

There is also another important factor: the current 390 motorcycles will continue to be produced for international markets. Since production will continue anyway, keeping them on sale in India alongside the new 350cc models is a logical step.
