Design
The Norton Manx R carries a very aggressive design with sharp body panels, a sculpted fuel tank and a sleek tail section. The front end looks quite compact and sporty, while the exposed carbon fibre parts give the bike a premium and race-focused appearance. The main highlight here is the single sided swingarm, which completes the overall look of the premium sports bike.
According to Norton website, the Manx R will be offered in six colour options: Trophy Silver, Matrix Black, Celestial Grey, Aqua Green, Glacier Blue and a full carbon fibre finish. Out of all the finishes, we personally like the carbon fibre version the most, as it easily looks the cleanest and most beautiful in our opinion. It also helps highlight the motorcycle's sharp lines and premium detailing much better than the brighter shades, although it is also expected to cost a little more than the other paint schemes.
Engine And Features
Coming to the powertrain, the Manx R is powered by a 72-degree, 1,200cc V4 engine that produces 206PS at 11,500rpm, and 130Nm at 9,000rpm. These figures easily make it one of the most powerful motorcycles in its segment. The engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox. It also gets multiple electronic rider aids including switchable traction control, riding modes and cornering ABS. Along with this, Norton Motorcycle is offering a three year, unlimited kilometre, factory warranty in the UK, showing the brand's commitment to providing quality and reliability.
Underpinings
The bike also features some premium cycle parts like an aluminium diecast frame and a single-sided swingarm. Along with this the bike gets a 45mm Marzocchi inverted fork, and rear monoshock, both fully adjustable. It uses twin 320mm discs at the front with a four piston Brembo Hypure 4-piston caliper, and a 245mm rear disc with a twin-piston caliper. The bike runs on 17-inch carbon fibre wheels at both ends, with a 120-section front and a 200-section rear Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tyre.
BikeDekho Says
The Norton Manx R is positioned as an ultra-premium superbike focused on exclusivity, design and performance. So far, the specifications from the international website look quite promising. It is expected to make its India debut later this month. Earlier it was expected to be priced at around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), however, after India-UK FTA (free trade agreement), this price is now expected to be much lower. Although the bike will still be a CBU (completely built unit).
