The RTX 300's real-world range suits its touring nature
I recently put the TVS Apache RTX 300 through a real-world mileage test to see how it performs, and the results turned out to be quite interesting.
To begin with, I completely filled the fuel tank to ensure accuracy, noting the starting point carefully, before setting off on our ride.
Test Route & Cruising Speeds
My test route stretched from Pune to Satara and back, covering a total distance of 168km exactly. This route is known for its relatively smooth highway sections, and small ghat section, making it ideal for maintaining consistent speeds and extracting realistic efficiency figures. Throughout the journey, I kept the cruising speeds between 100 to 110kmph. The engine feels quite relaxed at these speeds, and the bike maintained its composure without feeling strained.
The Real-World Mileage
Traffic conditions were fairly manageable, allowing me to ride in a steady manner without too many interruptions. There were occasional slow-moving vehicles and minor speed variations, but overall, the ride reflected a practical, real-world touring scenario rather than a controlled test environment.
Once I reached the destination and completed the run, I headed straight to the fuel station to fill the tank again. This time, the bike took 5.55 litres of fuel to fill up completely. Based on the distance covered and the amount of fuel consumed, the final calculated fuel efficiency came out to be 30.41kmpl. With this figure the Apache RTX 300 will be able to go more than 300km in a single tank (12.5-litre fuel tank capacity).

For a 300cc single-cylinder motorcycle, this mileage is respectable. The TVS Apache RTX 300 manages to strike a decent balance between performance and efficiency, especially considering the speeds at which it was ridden. However, I do feel that there was a bit more room for improvement, particularly given the favorable riding conditions and smooth highway stretch.
That said, in real-world usage where riding conditions can vary significantly, a mileage figure of just over 30kmpl is still quite practical. It makes the bike an apt option not just for spirited rides, but also for longer highway tours without frequent fuel stops.
