Battle of India's best-selling scooter and the 2nd best-selling scooter
You want a nice, sweet scooter, one that everyone in the family can hop on and ride and you've obviously narrowed it down to 2 scooters: the TVS Jupiter 110 and the Honda Activa 110, 2 of India's best-selling scooters.
And now you're confused. The Jupiter 110 sounds brilliant on paper, and it really is, but then the Activa's the Activa. It's been a household name forever, and you don't want to make a wrong decision.
So which one should you finally go for? That's the exact question we'll help you answer right here:

Price & Variants
TVS Jupiter 110 | Honda Activa 110 | ||
Variant | Ex-showroom Price | Variant | Ex-showroom Price |
Drum | Rs 73,400 | Standard | Rs 75,433 |
Drum Alloy | Rs 78,000 | DLX | Rs 85,335 |
Drum SXC | Rs 82,100 | Smart | Rs 89,806 |
Disc SXC | Rs 84,750 | ||
Special Edition | Rs 86,00 |
- Both scooters come at a similar start price. But funnily, the Activa 6G's top variant overtakes the Jupiter 110's top variant, despite the former having just 3 variants. That's because the DLX trim charges a nearly Rs 10,000 premium over the Standard variant in the Activa 110's case. And that is given that the Activa 110 doesn't get disc brakes even as an option. But on the whole, we can call it a tie.
If you're wondering which variant to go for, we always recommend at least disc brakes on a scooter, so the disc SXC variant on the Jupiter should be fine. But if you're on a strict budget, even the drum alloy trim will serve you well.

Dimensions & Design
Specifications | TVS Jupiter 110 | Honda Activa 110 | Difference |
Seat Height | 770mm | 764mm | +6mm |
Kerb Weight | 105kg | 106kg | -1kg |
Ground Clearance | 163mm | 162mm | +1mm |
Wheelbase | 1275mm | 1260mm | +15mm |
- There are no major differences between the two in terms of their dimensions. They both are reasonably narrow, have low seat heights and a low kerb weight, making them accessible for all sorts of riders in the family.
In terms of their designs, the TVS Jupiter 110 was always a good-looking scooter, but TVS took things up a notch in its last update. The scooter now looks even more striking but without going overboard. Colourways like the Dawn Blue Matte make it look eye-catching in a world full of dull commuters, and even if you want something more subtle, TVS has plenty of colour options for you.
The Activa 110, though, hasn't received a proper overhaul in ages. It has looked the same over the years, and while the new-gen version is just around the corner, we doubt it'd look radically different from the current one. Yes, it looks familiar and safe, but Honda could've at least given it some more attractive colour schemes.

Features & Safety
Key Features | |
TVS Jupiter 110 | Honda Activa 110 |
|
|
- Now, while both scooters don't really have any features on their base variants, go up the ladder, and you'll see that one of the two clearly has a lot more features than the other.
From Bluetooth connectivity to fancy things like voice assistance, the TVS scooter has it all. And while a lot of its features might sound gimmicky, we're glad the scooter also has practical features like the massive 33-litre boot.
The Activa 110 might have a TFT console on its top variant, but even with it, the Honda scooter cannot match the Jupiter 110 in terms of the features on offer.
And we know the Activa 110 is supposed to be a simple, affordable, practical scooter without the complications of modern-day technology. While that's fine, we're surprised that Honda hasn't even given the Activa 110 actual, usable features like a bigger boot or disc brakes even as an option. Given the way electric scooters have spoiled us with big underseat storage nowadays, the Activa's boot is laughably small.

Engines
Specifications | TVS Jupiter 110 | Honda Activa 110 |
Engine | 113.3cc air-cooled engine | 109.51cc air-cooled engine |
Power | 8.02PS at 6500rpm | 7.99PS at 8000rpm |
Torque | 9.8Nm at 5000rpm (with assist) 9.2Nm at 5000rpm (without assist) | 9.05Nm at 5500rpm |
- Both scooters seem to be closely stacked on paper, but there's quite a difference in how their engines actually feel in the real world.
While the Jupiter 110 feels nice and easygoing at low speeds, twist its throttle a bit more than usual, and you'll see that it has performance. It actually enjoys being ridden in a spirited manner, and you'll end up zipping through traffic at a much quicker pace than you'd expect on a 110cc scooter. TVS' iGo technology actually works too, and once the scooter has the boost, you can twist the throttle harder for some extra juice while overtaking.
The Honda Activa 110's performance is exactly what you'd expect in this class. It's reasonably smooth, has just enough to get around town in a gentle manner and will return a good mileage if ridden calmly. Unlike Jupiter, it's not a big fan of being ridden hard, and you will see the mileage drop if you start riding it aggressively.

BikeDekho Says
The TVS Jupiter 110 is the clear winner here. It can do a lot more than the Activa, while coming at the same price. And most importantly, apart from covering all the family-friendly, practical bases that a family-oriented scooter should, the Jupiter 110 has just enough fun left in it for the younger folks. That is exactly why it's our favourite scooter in this segment. If you're really looking for the better scooter, the better value for the money you're spending, it's hands down the TVS Jupiter 110.
It's not all over for the Honda Activa 110, of course. It can come across as just a bit more comfortable than the Jupiter, and more importantly, it is the Activa. The name has been part of our Indian households for years now, and the badge still carries a lot of value, as the sales charts tell us. So we'd not be mad if you went ahead and bought the Activa 110 just for its badge value. But you'd have to remember that it's not the best your money could've got you.
Jupiter 110 vs Rivals:
Between Zest 110 and Jupiter 110, Jupiter 110 has more boot space, features and is the better scooter.
Get the Jupiter 110 gives fun performance, more features, better looks, as well as a value for money price tag than Dio 110.
Get the Destini 110 if you want something more commuting-oriented, and get the Jupiter 110 if you also want something more fun.
The TVS Jupiter 110's youthful appeal will make the Destini Prime feel a bit dated, for it hasn't been properly updated in quite a while.
Buy the Pleasure Plus Xtec over the TVS Jupiter 110 if you're on a strict budget.
Both scooters are attractive and feature-loaded but the Jupiter's big boot gives it a big practicality advantage over the Xoom 110.
While both scooters are brilliant, the TVS iQube's lower maintenanceand no fuel expenses mean you'll be saving a fair bit of money compared to the Jupiter 110.
Buy the Bajaj Chetak 2501 if you don't care about performance and want to save on fuel money.
TVS Jupiter 110 is as fun to ride as the Vida VX2 Go.
