After spending some time on the Chetak C2501, there are three things we like, and two things we didn't

Bajaj Auto launched the all-new Chetak C2501 in India, a few weeks back.

At Rs 91,399 (ex-showroom, Delhi), it is the brand's most affordable e-scooter. We have reviewed the new Chetak, and here are three things we like, and two things we didn't:

What We Liked

Gorgeous Design

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 features a neat, likeable design that feels timeless yet modern. Clean body panels, soft curves, and metal construction give it a premium appeal. Overall, the design does make it stand out in the competitive e-scooter market, with its elegance that grows on you with everyday use.

Agile Handling

Thanks to its 108kg (kerb) weight, the scooter feels quite light. Also the wheelbase of the C2501 is 1225mm, that is 130mm shorter than on the other Chetak models. Due to this, the C2501 feels quite agile as well. Direction changes are quick, U-turns are effortless, and filtering through traffic is stress-free. It feels perfectly suited to crowded city roads, making everyday rides easy, and confidence-inspiring for both old and new riders.

Comfortable

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 offers good comfort with a spacious seating area that suits daily commuting well. The seat is wide, supportive, and accommodating for different body types. There's ample room to move around, ensuring a relaxed posture for both rider and pillion on longer rides within city limits.

What We Disliked

Usable Performance

With a limited top speed of 55kmph, the Chetak C2501 prioritises efficiency and safety. This is not bad for city usage, however the scooter will feel slow while being ridden out on the highway. Overall, it's ideal for city use and new riders, but faster highway runs feel restrictive.

Slightly Firm Suspension Setup

The suspension setup is on the firmer side. While it keeps the scooter stable at high speed, and during quick direction changes, sharp bumps and broken roads are felt. While it's not firm enough to be a dealbreaker, having a pillion makes it a bit more pliant.

Verdict:

Summing up, even though it's the cheapest Chetak scooter on sale, the C2501 doesn't feel 'cheap' in any way. It's meant for one purpose - make city commutes easy and effortless, and that's exactly what it delivers. So if you're looking for an affordable, funky electric scooter that has the basics covered, then the Chetak C25 is a great deal.

In fact, Bajaj is offering a limited-period discount on the Chetak C25, which will let you save even more.
