Expect it to cost around Rs 30,000 more than the regular bike

The Hero Xpulse 210 Dakar Edition is a more focused and off-road-oriented version of the standard Xpulse 210 adventure bike.

According to our sources, the bike is all set to be launched in India by the end of February 2026 or by early March. As for the pricing, the standard Xpulse 210 is priced at Rs 1,62,065 and Rs 1,71,283 (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Base and Top variant respectively. The Dakar Edition is expected to command a slight premium, with prices likely to sit closer to Rs 1.95 lakh to Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom).

While the Dakar Edition is based on the regular Xpulse 210, it appears to be developed with greater focus towards off-road performance over everyday usability. Here's all that we know about the bike so far:

Long-Travel Suspension Is the Key Update

The most significant change comes in the form of suspension hardware. The Dakar Edition features long-travel suspension at both ends, and it is fully adjustable. Wheel travel stands at 280mm at the front and 270mm at the rear. In comparison, the standard Xpulse 210 offers roughly 210mm of front travel and about 205mm at the rear. This substantial increase should improve the bike's ability to handle rough terrain, deep ruts, jumps, and high-speed trail riding, making it more suitable for demanding off-road conditions.

The regular Xpulse 210 comes with a seat height of 830mm, ground clearance of 220mm and a kerb weight of 168kg for the base variant and 170kg for the Top variant. On the other hand, the Dakar Edition comes with 270mm of ground clearance. Given the longer-travel suspension, an increase in seat height is expected. We'll have to wait and see the full specifications.

Same Engine, Familiar Performance

Despite the visual and hardware changes, the Dakar Edition is expected to use the same 210cc engine as the standard Xpulse 210, in the same state of tune. This suggests that performance figures are likely to remain unchanged at 24.6PS and 20.7Nm, keeping the focus firmly on chassis capability rather than outright power. For riders, this means a familiar power delivery paired with significantly enhanced off-road hardware.

Who is it for? What are its rivals?

The Hero Xpulse 200 made off-roading much more affordable, whereas the Xpulse 210 carries forward that legacy but in a much more powerful package. The Dakar Edition is for those who are serious about learning the technicalities of off-roading and rally riding, that too in a motorcycle that's road-legal. The closest alternative is the Kawasaki KLX230, a Japanese dual-sport bike. Do note that while the KLX230 is pretty capable off-road, it doesn't have a powerful liquid-cooled engine as the Xpulse 210. Consequently, it is also a bit cheaper, at Rs 1,84,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Faith Meets First Aid

In a related development, Hero recently introduced an initiative called Prayers for Safety, aimed at improving rider preparedness in the Himalayas. The initiative reimagines traditional Tibetan prayer flags, which are commonly tied to motorcycle handlebars in regions like Manali and Leh-Ladakh, as compact first-aid kits. The kits have been rolled out across key biking hubs via rental points, cafés and custom dispensers. The idea integrates basic medical preparedness into an existing riding ritual and addresses the lack of immediate medical access on remote mountain routes.

The idea and execution are really clever, and it also ensures easy accessibility. However, do note that the pouches are also subject to extreme weather, which may not be suitable for the medical contents inside in the long run (as they need to be kept in cool, dry places, away from heat and moisture). We'd advise you to secure the kit in an easily accessible compartment in a bag.
