• Next-generation Chetak EV to debut early next year

In an earnings conference call, Bajaj Auto revealed several details of its new bike lineup planned for the next 1.5 years - including both petrol-powered bikes as well as EVs. The company plans to roll out three new Bajaj Pulsar bikes, a new bike sub-brand, the next-generation Chetak, and also new sub-350cc models from KTM and Triumph.

Director's Statement

Executive Director Rakesh Sharma confirmed the timeline during Bajaj's Q2 FY26 earnings call. 'We've got a few introductions starting from December in the Pulsar range, and there will be some in March and then in May. So we've got at least three good model introductions in December, March, and May,' he said. Sharma added that the current market conditions and revised GST rates 'offer excellent opportunities to attract customers to our Pulsar portfolio,' which Bajaj intends to 'further strengthen with new variants.'

New Bajaj Pulsar Bikes

Among the upcoming launches, Bajaj is expected to introduce a new Bajaj Pulsar 125cc model, serving as the new entry point into the brand. It will likely share its platform with the existing Bajaj Pulsar N125, but will be a completely new motorcycle rather than a mild refresh.

The second bike is likely to be a downsized version of the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z, possibly called the Bajaj Pulsar NS350 to qualify for the lower 18% new GST bracket for bikes under 350cc. Bajaj absorbed the GST 2.0-related price hike on the Pulsar NS400Z, but it may not be able to sustain this in the long run. Hence, a downsized, affordable Pulsar NS350 makes sense, what with the new GST strategy.

While the details of the third Pulsar model is under wraps, we reckon it will be a new bike but based on one of the existing Pulsar models as opposed to a completely brand new bike made from scratch.

New Sub-Brand

Beyond Pulsar, Bajaj will introduce a new bike sub-brand. The last new sub-brand in the petrol-powered segment was the Bajaj Pulsar N series, so it's been a long time since then. While details remain undisclosed, Sharma confirmed it's in advanced development. 'That part I'm holding close to my chest, but it will be sooner than later. It's an absolutely new development. It will happen in the next fiscal, but earlier than later,' he said.

We think this might be a heavily reworked version of the Bajaj Dominar platform, possibly a 350cc adventure-themed bike. This makes sense as Sharma confirmed that it will come sooner than later (around mid-2027 or festive 2027, we think). It will likely be Bajaj's answer to the TVS Apache RTX 300.

Next-Gen Chetak

After reclaiming the top spot in registrations (as per VAHAN data) this October, Bajaj is readying a next-generation Chetak electric scooter, set to debut in early 2026. 'We will aim to maintain the leadership position here on. The launch of an absolutely new model by early next year, combined with the growing Chetak network, should further strengthen our claims to leadership,' Sharma said. Expect it to be an affordable Chetak electric, which, in fact, was spied testing recently. It will likely have a good balance of affordability and features, something similar to the TVS Orbiter.

KTM-Triumph 350cc Range Under Development

Bajaj's global partners KTM and Triumph are also working with the company to develop new sub-350cc bikes to align with India's GST 2.0 norms. 'The GST rate cuts found some of the KTM and all of the Triumph models on the wrong side of the 350cc divide. However, we maintained prices, absorbing the GST increase - and to some extent, the customers rewarded us with their support during the festival,' Sharma said.

He added, 'We are also working along with our partners, KTM and Triumph, on reshaping our portfolio to take advantage of the lower GST rates, and these products will be launched in due course.' This could include a new (probably only India-specific) KTM 350 Duke, likely a downsized version of the KTM 390 Duke. Right now, there's a sizable price gap between the KTM 250 Duke (Rs 2.12 lakh) and the KTM 390 Duke (Rs 2.97 lakh), so expect the upcoming KTM 350 Duke to be priced at around Rs 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom). As for the Triumph 350cc bike, we already analysed it recently.
