In fact, during an interview, Subhash Ghai revealed that he would remain involved with the project but would not direct it. The director explained, 'Sanju has been passionate about making this sequel for many years. Even while in jail, he wrote to me, 'Uncle, I want to make this film.' So, I sent him the concept and story. If you ask me, no one can make this film the way I did. However, I don't want to remake my own film; I'm 80 years old now, anyway. I told Sanju, 'If you're so keen, why don't you produce it yourself, and I can be your creative producer.' I'm sure he will find the right director for the film and will announce it soon."

Subhash Ghai to have a cameo in Sanjay Dutt's film

Talking about his bond with Sanjay Dutt,the filmmaker said, "Sanju is like my son, so I'll do this for him. I also did a film for Shah Rukh Khan in 'Om Shanti Om'. I cherish the relationships I've built in the industry over the years. Some distributors stood by me even when some of my films didn't do well. Apart from Rishi Kapoor and Dilip Kumar, who were well-known names when they worked with me in Karz (1980) and Vidhaata (1982), I never worked with stars. I looked for new talent who fit the role, and they went on to become big stars."
