Rushad Rana to Headline His First Film
Rushed Rana has been part of popular shows like Hip Hip Hurray, Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Kkusum, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Sasural Simar Ka, Kahata Hai Dil… and Anupamaa. He is now ready to headline a film for the first time.
What is your role in the film 3rd Eye? Aren't you scared doing a horror film?
I play an ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) who does not believe in ghosts or spirits. In a haunted flat, a series of murders keeps happening, and my job is to solve the mystery. But eventually, I get trapped in the same supernatural case. It's actually a very fun story. I even end up romantically involved with a ghost and share songs with her.
You have worked in many TV shows, films, and web series. How did your journey begin?
I come from Mumbai and have no film background. During my college days, I developed a strong interest in acting. I used to read magazines like Mayapuri and Screen, cut out posters, and stick them on my wall. I always wanted to become an actor.
During that time, I got selected for Yash Chopra's Mohabbatein through a student audition. I was part of Gurukul in the film. That's how my journey started.

Which films and projects have been important in your career?
After Mohabbatein, I got a chance in Veer Zaara, where I played Rani Mukerji's assistant lawyer Sahir Farooqui. I have also worked in films like Maatr, Dhoor, Uljh (where I played Pakistan PM Shehzad Alam), Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, and 8x10 Tasveer.
These were small roles but very impactful. Based on this work, director Sanjay Niranjan trusted me and offered me the lead role in 3rd Eye. I have also worked in his film Bombay, and I am currently working on Do Not Disturb, which will release around Dussehra or Diwali.

Have you ever had a bad experience in the industry?
Honestly, most of my experiences have been good. Every industry has both good and difficult people. If you are ambitious, you learn to adjust. In the TV industry, sometimes actors are made to wait unnecessarily, but if you are a good performer, you always get respect. My roles have gradually increased, and I have always received appreciation.

How was your experience playing the lead role in 3rd Eye?
It was a very good experience. Director Sanjay Niranjan shoots only what is needed and doesn't waste time on set. We worked in a very calm and relaxed environment. I truly enjoyed the process, and I hope the audience will love the film.
