Sonakshi Sinha, Jyotika and Ashutosh Gowariker play pivotal roles in the series. In a recent interview, the three stars opened up about the show and their characters. Here are the key excerpts from the conversation:

How was the experience of playing a lawyer for the first time, and how did you prepare for the role?

Sonakshi Sinha: To be honest, the image we usually have of courtroom dramas is that they are very high-voltage and over-the-top. But Ashwiny asked me to watch real court proceedings. She suggested that I watch actual courtroom videos on YouTube. When I did, I was surprised because there was no shouting or dramatic confrontation. People spoke in a very normal manner. Capturing that realism was important. My character, Neha, is not perfect. She makes mistakes, learns from them, and grows. That is what makes her human and interesting.

What special preparation did you do to give the film a realistic touch?

Jyotika: First, we tried to understand the life of an ordinary person-the daily rush, commuting by bus and train, and constantly racing against time. Then we tried to connect with the emotions of families who do not receive justice on time. Understanding what goes through their minds while waiting for the next court hearing was very important. The preparation was more internal than external because the characters were written so beautifully that the biggest challenge was to portray them truthfully.

What were the challenges behind portraying such a powerful character on screen?

Ashutosh Gowariker: I have always enjoyed courtroom dramas. When this project was offered to me, I was very excited. I had never played a lawyer before, so it was a completely new experience. Ashwiny also gave me some real courtroom videos to watch. I was surprised because films often portray courtrooms in a very dramatic way, whereas in reality everything happens quite naturally. Capturing that authenticity was essential. Research and script readings helped me understand my character, Ravi Rajvansh, much better.

The film shows your character prioritizing her career over relationships. Is such a decision easy in real life?

Sonakshi Sinha: I have never faced such a situation in my personal life. But speaking about Neha, she follows the values taught to her by her father. He is the one who made her strong. So if she has to stand against her own father for the sake of truth, she does it. That is what makes the father-daughter relationship in the series so beautiful.

As a director, when you step onto a set as an actor, does your directorial mindset also come into play?

Ashutosh Gowariker: No, not at all. When I direct, my focus is entirely on the story and the whole team. But when I act, I completely surrender myself to the director. I am proud to be a director's actor. I try to mould myself according to the director's vision and requirements.

Compared to earlier years, you are now getting stronger and more layered roles. What are your thoughts on this change?

Jyotika: I have been working in the film industry for the past 17 years, and only now am I getting some of the most interesting roles of my career. In the South industry, I have played a wide variety of characters-a mute girl, a blind girl, a classical dancer, and much more. But after the age of 40, a new phase begins where you get deeply layered characters with grey shades. OTT platforms have played a huge role in bringing about this change. Today, there are many well-written roles for actors in my age group.

What upcoming projects can audiences look forward to?

Ashutosh Gowariker: I am currently working on several different projects. One of them is a documentary series titled Temple Raiders. It explores the story of ancient Indian idols that are stolen and trafficked through international networks, eventually ending up in foreign museums and private collections. Apart from that, I am producing a Marathi film and also working on a new web series.
