Recently released on Amazon Prime Video, Sonakshi Sinha's courtroom drama web series System has been receiving a great response from viewers.
Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the series also stars Jyothika and Ashutosh Gowariker. During a recent interaction, Sonakshi spoke candidly about nepotism and her father Shatrughan Sinha.
Sonakshi's Take on Nepotism
Sonakshi has a different perspective on nepotism. Speaking about the issue, she said, 'That's how the world works.' She believes privilege and family legacy exist not just in the film industry but in every field.
She said, 'If I want to join a business, a businessman's son will naturally get more opportunities than me. That's just how things work. I don't think nepotism is something people should give so much importance to.'
Her Father Always Gave Her Freedom
Recalling her early days, Sonakshi revealed that her father never pressured her into choosing a career path. She shared, 'My father always gave me the freedom to choose my own path. Even when I was studying fashion designing, he fully supported me. Later, life took me towards the film industry.' She added that this trust became her biggest source of confidence.
What Sonakshi Said About Her Father
Talking about Shatrughan Sinha's personality, Sonakshi revealed a softer side of him. She said, 'Papa may look very tough from the outside. He has that 'Khamosh' image, but deep down he is an extremely soft-hearted person.' She further added, 'When I entered the industry, he simply told me, 'Go and do your work, I know you'll do well.' Those words gave me the wings to fly.'
What is the 'System' about?
System is an emotional courtroom thriller revolving around Neha Rajvansh, the daughter of Delhi's famous defense lawyer Ravi Rajvansh. Neha is a government lawyer who is challenged by her father to win 10 cases before joining his law firm.
During this journey, she meets High Court stenographer Sarika Rawat, who helps her solve nine cases. However, the tenth case brings major twists that keep viewers hooked till the end.
Journey That Began With 'Dabangg'
Sonakshi made her Bollywood debut in 2010 with Dabangg and has since delivered several memorable films. Her successful filmography includes Rowdy Rathore, Son of Sardaar, Lootera, Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty and Mission Mangal, among others. She has also been appreciated for her performances in films like Akira, Noor and Ittefaq.
