He worked with the Prithvi Theatre Group, which led to his debut in Raj Kapoor's "Sargam" (1950). The film starred Raj Kapoor, Om Prakash, David Abraham, Radhakrishnan, and Tabassum. The film's music was composed by Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, C. Ramachandra, and Saraswati Rane. After a brief break, he reappeared on screen when Prithviraj Kapoor cast him in his film "Paisa," which was released in 1957. However, his lead role, "Diyar-e-Habib" (1956), was released before "Paisa."
