He is the son of a famous stunt director and action choreographer
Vicky Kaushal was born on May 16, 1988, in Mumbai. He belongs to a Punjabi family. His father, Sham Kaushal, is a renowned stunt director and action choreographer who has worked on several superhit Bollywood films. Vicky completed his schooling in Mumbai and later received an engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology. Although his career was headed towards a technical field, his inclination towards films and acting drew him to Bollywood. He learned the nuances of acting at the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting School and began working in theatre.
