Federal Trade Commission investigated Twitter for misuse of data

Federal Trade Commission has investigated twitter over the breach of private data. This has come as a setback after previous continuous warnings to Twitter.

Earlier to, Twitter has failed to protect privacy of its users. Presently, FTC is investigating Twitter for using phone numbers uploaded for security purposes to target people with advertising. This is a violation of a 2011 consent decree in which Twitter agreed to better protect personal data.

After this Twitter's shares fell about 1% in extended trading in New York. The stock has gained 14% this year.

Earlier too cases like hackers sending phony messages from people’s accounts, breach of private data of users etc. had become conspicuous and investigation was done against Twitter.

The matter remains unresolved and there can be no assurance as to the timing or the terms of any final outcome,

After FCI probe Twitter clarified yesterday in a statement. However FCI officials have denied for giving any statement against this.
