After losing the toss, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler steadied Gujarat Titans on a slow surface with wind and light drizzle around, but the innings lost momentum late as they finished on 162 for 6.
Steady start on a slow pitch
Gill set the tone early with 39 off 27 balls, striking six fours, while Buttler made 38 from 33 deliveries. The pair handled the conditions well during the middle phase, rotating strike and picking boundaries when possible on a sluggish pitch.
Punjab's bowlers kept things tight. Yuzvendra Chahal broke the stand by removing Gill and later dismissed Buttler, while Vijaykumar Vyshak made the biggest impact at the death, finishing with 3 for 34 in his four overs.
Late collapse dents Gujarat finish
The final overs hurt Gujarat. They managed only 34 runs in the last five overs and lost three wickets, including Shahrukh Khan and Washington Sundar in quick succession. Rahul Tewatia remained unbeaten on 11 but could not accelerate.
Punjab also benefited from some loose bowling at the end from Arshdeep Singh, who conceded 12 runs in the final over, including wides and a no-ball, though it did little to change the overall total.
On a surface offering grip and with conditions unsettled, 162 looks competitive, but Gujarat may feel they left runs behind after a steady start, stay tune.
