Indian equity benchmarks ended lower on April 13, with the Nifty slipping below the 23,900 mark amid broad-based selling pressure. The Nifty 50 closed at 23,842.65, down 207.95 points or 0.86%, while the BSE Sensex declined 702.68 points or 0.91% to settle at 76,847.57.
Despite the overall weakness, a few stocks in the index managed to close in positive territory.
Among the top gainers, HDFC Life Insurance led the pack, rising 2.5% to close at ₹619.1. The stock saw steady buying interest even as the broader market remained under pressure.
Adani Enterprises gained 2.2%, ending the session at ₹2,131.7. The stock continued to trade higher despite volatility in the benchmark indices.
ICICI Bank added 1.9% to close at ₹1,347.2, contributing to the limited upside seen within the index.
Among other gainers, NTPC rose 1.6% to ₹386.4, while Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles ended 0.9% higher at ₹345.7.
ONGC edged up 0.3% to ₹287.4. Meanwhile, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and Coal India posted marginal gains of 0.2% each, closing at ₹1,234.7 and ₹434.8 respectively.
Overall, gains remained limited and selective, with the broader trend in the market staying negative for the session.
