Indian equity benchmarks closed higher on April 7, 2026, despite a volatile trading session, with the Nifty 50 ending above the 23,100 mark.

However, selective profit booking was visible across a few heavyweight stocks, which featured among the top losers of the day.

The index settled at 23,123.65, gaining 155.40 points or 0.68%, indicating overall market strength even as some sectors saw mild declines.

Among the laggards, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories emerged as the top loser, closing at ₹1,198.0, down 1.6%.

InterGlobe Aviation, the parent of IndiGo, declined 1.0% to settle at ₹4,269.0.

Shares of Adani Enterprises also slipped 1.0%, closing at ₹1,884.0, reflecting mild consolidation after recent volatility.

Apollo Hospitals ended the day at ₹7,329.0, down 0.6%, while Trent declined 0.5% to ₹3,815.0.

Banking major State Bank of India closed 0.5% lower at ₹1,028.0, even as the broader banking index showed marginal gains.

In the cement space, UltraTech Cement fell 0.4% to ₹10,907.0. Similarly, Adani Ports declined 0.4% to ₹1,382.0.

Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra slipped 0.3% to ₹3,013.0, while Titan Company edged lower by 0.2% to ₹4,238.0.

The broader trend remained positive, but the decline in these stocks highlights sector-specific consolidation even as benchmark indices continued their upward trajectory.
