Vigil Season 3: Latest updates on release date, cast news and plot details

Business Upturn 4 days ago

The popular OTT series of Vigil Season 3 is produced by World Productions, a subsidiary of ITV Studios that produced Line of Duty. ITV Studios is responsible for international distribution of the show and may distribute it via Peacock in the United States, like other seasons; however, this has not yet been confirmed.

Most of the updates will come from official BBC statements, and no trailers will have been released by early April 2026.

The BBC Media Centre or official social accounts will have updates on the release date, trailers, and other first-look content leading up to the expected air date later this year. BBC iPlayer has previous seasons available for streaming.

Vigil Season 3 (known as Series 3) has been given a green light and is currently being produced. The third series of Vigil will premiere sometime in late 2026 on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer, although a specific date has yet to be revealed.

The filming started in September 2025 in both Scotland and Svalbard, which is where the scenes that are set in the Arctic Ocean are being filmed (and wrapped) in January 2026, according to star Suranne Jones on social media!

Vigil Season 3: Plot details

This 6-episode season takes us to an isolated arctic research facility, where D.C.I. Amy Silva (Suranne Jones), along with D.I. Kirsten Longacre, must investigate the assassination of a soldier from a clandestine British special forces operation. They will have to capture the perpetrator before an international crisis erupts over a "land grab" for W/global commodities due to climate change in the North Pole. The two investigators' professional careers and their relationship will be jeopardized if they fail.

The series continues with its trademark high-tension, high-stakes thriller style that blends aspects of police work, military operations, and international politics - as well as a transition from former submarine and drone/military locations to a completely frozen Arctic.
