Season 2 which covers the Slavery/Farm Arc just aired its final episode in June of 2023. The manga/in comic book form by Makoto Yukimura concluded with Chapter 220 in July 2025; it tells the whole story of Thorfinn's journey toward peace through the creation of the Vinland colony. Therefore, it can be assumed that Season 3 of the show should include the adaptation(s) of the following arc: The Eastern Expedition Arc (and others), new characters such as Hild, a greater degree of conflict, more ways in which the series will explore themes of exploration, and the continuation of Thorfinn's desire for a life without violence while living out the historical events of the Viking way of life.

In January 2026, social media had a lot of buzz about Season 3 of Vinland Saga being "officially in production" due to misread pictures or previous comments that weren't verified. Yukimura said on X that he was "not aware" of this news and was looking forward to the anime's continuation, acknowledging the animation issues of creating Hild's crossbow and offering to help with any miscellaneous items (since he has already completed his side of the project). There has been no studio confirmation at this time of any renewals for Vinland Saga.

Although speculation suggests a potential window for Season 3 in 2026 - 2027 due to the almost three to four-year gap between Seasons 1 (2019) and 2 (2023), there is no definitive time frame due to MAPPA's schedule being jam-packed with other projects (i.e., Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, etc.). Furthermore, some fan sites and leaks mention late 2026 or early 2027 as likely release dates; however, none of these has yet been confirmed.

Additionally, fans are continuously voicing their desire for more releases for the series on social media (Reddit) with its violent action, deep character development, and themes of anti-war keeping it a fan-favourite. All other seasons are currently available for streaming through either Crunchyroll or Netflix.

To conclude, while a third season is bound to happen considering that the manga has already wrapped up its storyline and has been so successful so far, there has not yet been any type of confirmation. Watch out for any announcements about Season 3 around either January or July anniversary celebrations or other anime events.
