Foundation has become known as the gold standard of sci-fi television on Apple TV+. The Foundation continues its ambitious storytelling through innovative visuals, complex plot lines, and stellar cast performances. Fans are eagerly looking forward to the fourth season, which will delve further into the canon of the series with the continuing challenges from the Mule and provide greater insight into many of the main characters, as well as numerous sets of dramatic events that occurred over a period of several thousand years and include multiple plot twists and emotional peaks that took place during the previous third season, scheduled for the year 2025.

Foundation's season 4 premiere Status

Apple TV has confirmed that season 4 of "Foundation" is on the way, but without an exact date announced yet.

The renewal of "Foundation" happened in September 2025 before the season 3 finale, which aired September 12, 2025. Filming for season 4 officially began in early 2026, with reports indicating that filming will commence sometime around January 5th in Prague. Production is expected to run through May 2026.

Keeping in mind that it took two years between the first three seasons (2021, 2023, and 2025) and also accounting for the significant amount of post-production the show will need due to the vast amounts of special effects and CGI, many believe that "Foundation" Season 4 will premiere in 2027, more widely than this estimates are being cited by industry reports, fan wikis, and entertainment publications as projecting that the premiere date is likely to be sometime in the first half of 2027 or during summer 2027.

Ian Goldberg and David Kob have been named co-showrunners for season 4 and are now joining with previous co-creator David S. Goyer as executive producers on the series.
