India's High-Speed Diamond Corridor

India's High-Speed Diamond Corridor

Indian Railways is planning a high-speed "Diamond Corridor" that will connect major economic hubs, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai, through a network of bullet train routes.

The plan includes multiple corridors such as Mumbai-Pune, Pune-Hyderabad, Hyderabad-Bengaluru, Hyderabad-Chennai, and Chennai-Bengaluru, forming a diamond-shaped network across southern and western India.

These high-speed trains are expected to run at speeds of up to 320-350 km/h, dramatically reducing travel times. For instance, Mumbai-Pune could take under an hour, while Hyderabad-Bengaluru may be covered in around 2 hours.

The project aims to boost connectivity between key IT, industrial, and commercial hubs, supporting economic growth, trade, tourism, and regional integration.

Hyderabad is expected to emerge as a central hub, linking multiple corridors and enabling seamless high-speed travel across the network.

While still in planning and proposal stages, the Diamond Corridor represents a major step toward transforming India's rail infrastructure into a faster, more efficient, and future-ready transport system.
