Toll revenues in India jumped 14% to a record ₹82,900.16 crore in the last fiscal year, driven by new toll road additions, stronger economic activity, and the broader rollout of the annual FASTag system.

By comparison, tolls totaled ₹72,930.83 crore in FY25.

FASTag transaction volumes also grew 5.7%, reaching nearly 4.45 billion in FY26 from 4.21 billion the previous year, according to National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) data tracked by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and reviewed by ET.

In March alone, toll collections from commercial vehicles rose to ₹7,193 crore from ₹6,924.57 crore in February, despite disruptions linked to the Iran conflict, reflecting continued economic momentum. Over the past eight years, annual toll revenues have more than tripled, up from ₹25,164.50 crore in FY19-the first year with electronic data tracking.

During this period, India's tolled road network more than doubled to 55,812 km by November 2025, compared with 26,067 km in FY19. A senior government official noted that the yearly addition of new toll plazas has improved logistics efficiency, reduced travel costs, and enhanced ease of travel for highway users, contributing to the rise in collections.

The official added that toll revenues are expected to grow further in the coming years as India moves toward more advanced electronic toll systems and phases out physical toll booths.
