Sambhuti Learning, Prosical Partner to Strengthen AI-Based Reading Assessment
Hyderabad/Mumbai, July 6: Sambhuti Learning has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Prosical Language Technologies to integrate TARA (Teacher's Assistant for Reading Assessment), an AI-powered oral reading fluency assessment system developed at IIT Bombay, into its AI-enabled learning platform, VidyaBuddhi.
Prosical Language Technologies, incubated at the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), IIT Bombay, has licensed the patented TARA technology from the institute to bring years of academic research into practical classroom applications.

The collaboration aims to provide schools and education programmes with a scalable, data-driven solution to assess and improve foundational literacy and language fluency.
Integrated into VidyaBuddhi's Reading Intervention Programme, TARA will enable teachers to measure students' reading accuracy, fluency, pace and expression while generating actionable insights for personalised learning and targeted interventions. The platform will support both formative and summative assessments, helping educators monitor progress and identify learning gaps more effectively.
Sambhuti Learning Co-Founder and CEO Umamaheshwar Ragi said the partnership combines advanced AI with proven assessment methods to help teachers detect learning gaps early and improve literacy outcomes.
Prof. Preeti Rao, Founder and CEO of Prosical Language Technologies, said TARA is the result of years of research at IIT Bombay aimed at making oral reading assessment objective, accessible and scalable. She added that the collaboration would take the technology into classrooms, reducing teachers' assessment time while enabling data-backed interventions.
Shaji Varghese, CEO of SINE, IIT Bombay, said the partnership reflects SINE's mission of translating cutting-edge research into scalable solutions with social impact. Aligned with the goals of NEP 2020 and the NIPUN Bharat Mission, the initiative seeks to strengthen foundational literacy through AI-enabled assessment and personalised instruction.
