Sugar Prices Extend Gains Amid Tight Supply Concerns

Domestic sugar prices continued to rise across major markets today, supported by persistent concerns over tightening domestic supplies.

Prices were reported higher by around ₹10-₹20 per quintal. Despite the government's export restrictions aimed at ensuring adequate local availability, overall market sentiment remained firm amid expectations of lower production and steady demand from bulk consumers.

In North India, M-grade sugar prices in Muzaffarnagar were quoted at ₹4,100-₹4,220 per quintal, with select mills reporting marginal gains during the session. In Maharashtra, S-grade sugar prices in Kolhapur were reported at ₹3,850-₹3,880 per quintal, higher by around ₹10 per quintal from previous levels and reflecting firm market sentiment.
