Domestic Sugar Prices Steady Amid Stable Demand
After a continuous decline, domestic sugar prices remained stable across major markets for the second consecutive session.
Demand was reported to be steady, while easing selling pressure helped prices stabilize following the recent correction.
The Maharashtra Cane Commissioner has directed sugar mills that have obtained the required permissions to commence crushing operations on or before October 15. However, the government has not made it mandatory for mills to begin crushing before October 15. Mills seeking to start operations earlier can apply for a crushing licence, which will be issued upon meeting the prescribed requirements. Obtaining an official crushing licence from the Sugar Commissioner's office remains mandatory before commencing crushing operations.
In Kolhapur, S-grade sugar is currently quoted at ₹4,300-4,380 per quintal, while M-grade sugar in Muzaffarnagar is trading at ₹4,480-4,560 per quintal. Prices remain subdued as weak offtake continues to offset concerns over the upcoming season's production and recovery prospects.
