Honda unveils India's first E85-compatible ADV160 maxi-scooter

Honda unveils India's first E85-compatible ADV160 maxi-scooter

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has unveiled the ADV160, an adventure-style maxi-scooter that is set to become India's first scooter compatible with E85 fuel, a blend containing 85% ethanol and 15% petrol.

The company introduced the ADV160 under its new "Made-in-India" portfolio. The scooter will be manufactured in India for both domestic sales and export markets. It will be retailed through Honda's RedWing and BigWing dealership networks, Hindustan reported.

The ADV160 is powered by a 157cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 16.3 bhp of power and 14.9 Nm of torque. Unlike conventional petrol scooters, the engine is designed to operate on E85 fuel, supporting the industry's shift towards higher ethanol-blended fuels.

Honda said the launch aligns with its strategy to develop products compatible with alternative fuels and future mobility requirements.

In terms of design, the ADV160 draws inspiration from Honda's larger X-ADV crossover model. It features a muscular body, adjustable windscreen, twin LED headlamps, block-pattern tyres, upright riding position and higher ground clearance, giving it an adventure-oriented appearance. Honda has positioned the scooter as a "City Adventure" model, suitable for both daily commuting and weekend touring.

The scooter is equipped with a full-colour TFT instrument display that supports smartphone connectivity through the Honda RoadSync application, allowing riders to access navigation and call notifications.

Other features include Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), single-channel ABS, a USB charging socket and a 27-litre under-seat storage compartment capable of accommodating a full-face helmet.

Honda has not yet announced the launch date or pricing of the ADV160 for the Indian market.
