MLA Chandradeep Narke seeks loan waiver for cooperative sugar mill employees in Maharashtra Assembly

MLA Chandradeep Narke seeks loan waiver for cooperative sugar mill employees in Maharashtra Assembly

Kolhapur: MLA Chandradeep Narke has urged the Maharashtra government to include employees of cooperative sugar mills under the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Farmer Loan Waiver Scheme, citing the worsening financial condition of workers employed in the state's cooperative sugar industry.

Raising the issue during the Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Narke said the sugar industry is seasonal in nature and many cooperative sugar mills across the state are facing serious financial difficulties.

He said the financial crisis has made it difficult for several mills to pay salaries to employees on time, leaving workers who have served the industry for years under growing financial stress.

Narke told the Assembly that many sugar mill employees have been forced to take loans to meet their daily household expenses and support their families. Delays in salary payments have further worsened their financial situation, increasing their debt burden.

He urged the state government to extend the benefits of the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Farmer Loan Waiver Scheme to cooperative sugar mill employees, saying the move would provide much-needed financial relief to workers and their families.
