However, last year the live storage available in these reservoirs for the corresponding period was 124.634 BCM. Thus, the live storage available in 166 reservoirs as per 30.07.2026 Bulletin is 65.37% of the live storage of corresponding period of last year.

In the northern region includes States of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan. There are 11 reservoirs under CWC monitoring having total live storage capacity of 19.836 BCM. The total live storage available in these reservoirs is 8.139 BCM which is 41.03% of total live storage capacity of these reservoirs. The storage during corresponding period of last year was 58.79%, indicating shortfall in water availability compared to last year.

In the Eastern region includes States of Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Tripura and West Bengal . There are 27 reservoirs under CWC monitoring having total live storage capacity of 21.759 BCM. The total live storage available in these reservoirs is 9.924 BCM which is 45.61% of total live storage capacity of these reservoirs. The storage during corresponding period of last year was 51.22%, indicating a dip in water availability.

In the Western region includes States of Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra. There are 53 reservoirs under CWC monitoring having total live storage capacity of 38.094 BCM. However the total live storage available in these reservoirs is 23.668 BCM which is 62.13 % of total live storage capacity of these reservoirs. The storage during corresponding period of last year was 71.14%.

In the Central region includes States of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. There are 28 reservoirs under CWC monitoring having total live storage capacity of 48.588 BCM. The total live storage available in these reservoirs is 21.100 BCM which is 43.43% of total live storage capacity of these reservoirs vs 68.05% which was reported in the same period last year.

In the Southern region includes States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. There are 47 reservoirs under CWC monitoring having total live storage capacity of 55.288 BCM. As per Reservoir Storage Bulletin dated 30.07.2026, the total live storage available in these reservoirs is 18.648 BCM which is 33.73% of total live storage capacity of these reservoirs. The storage during corresponding period of last year was 75.36%, indicating a significant dip in water availability in the current year vis-a-vis last year.

States having better water storage than last year for corresponding period are Assam, Chattisgarh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab. Goa is having equal water storage. States which are showing a declining water storage in the current year compared to same period last year are- Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal.
