Jana Nayagan: The Canadian distributor of the Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan, York Cinemas, took to social media to provide an update on the film's release plans.
Jana Nayagan, which is directed by H Vinoth, is Vijay's last film before he retires for a career in politics. The film was set to release on January 9, but due to issues related to lack of issuance of a censor certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the release was postponed.

This announcement hints at the film's delay beyond an April release, happening due to the Tamil Nadu State Assembly Elections, which is set to happen in April.
The CBFC decided to send Jana Nayagan to a revising committee after receiving a complaint from the a member of the original evaluation committee, which viewed the film in December 2025, and recommended exicisions to the makers, which was later carried out. The complaint by the committee member stated that the film violated the sentiment of certain religions and did not consult with the armed forces before using their logos in the film. The chairman of the CBFC then moved to send the film to a revising committee.
