Conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), the examination will take place from July 2 to July 4 across 955 examination centres spread over 60 districts of the state.

The UPTET serves as a mandatory qualifying examination for candidates aspiring to become teachers in government and government-aided primary and upper primary schools across Uttar Pradesh. Clearing the examination is an essential eligibility criterion for appointments to teach Classes 1 to 5 and Classes 6 to 8, making it one of the most significant examinations for aspiring educators in the state.

According to the commission, a total of 19,94,661 candidates have registered for this year's examination, reflecting the continued demand for teaching careers in Uttar Pradesh. Considering the unprecedented number of applicants, the examination has been scheduled over three days and will be conducted in five separate shifts to ensure smooth management of candidates and examination centres.

Candidates appearing for the upper primary level examination will take their papers during both shifts on July 2 and in the first shift on July 3. Meanwhile, candidates seeking eligibility for primary-level teaching positions will appear in the second shift on July 3 and the first shift on July 4.

The staggered schedule has been designed to effectively manage the movement of nearly two million candidates while maintaining examination integrity, security, and administrative efficiency across hundreds of centres simultaneously.

Ahead of the examination, Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission Chairman Prashant Kumar reviewed the preparedness at examination centres and expressed confidence that all necessary arrangements had been completed. He stated that the commission had undertaken extensive planning in coordination with district administrations, law enforcement agencies, and education authorities to conduct the examination without disruption.

The commission has placed particular emphasis on technology-based surveillance and real-time monitoring. Every examination hall and other sensitive locations within examination centres have been equipped with Artificial Intelligence-enabled CCTV cameras. These cameras have been integrated with district-level control rooms as well as the commission's central Integrated Command and Control Centre, enabling continuous live monitoring throughout the examination period.

Officials confirmed that connectivity and surveillance systems at all examination centres have already undergone technical testing to ensure uninterrupted operation during the examination. The deployment of AI-assisted monitoring is expected to strengthen vigilance against unfair practices while allowing authorities to respond quickly to any suspicious activity.

AI Surveillance, Strict Monitoring and Anti-Cheating Measures to Ensure Fair Examination

To further reinforce transparency, the commission has appointed one retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and one retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer as observers for each of the 60 districts hosting the examination. These senior officials have already visited examination centres to inspect arrangements and verify preparedness before the commencement of the test.

District Magistrates, senior police officials, and special monitoring teams have also been instructed to carry out continuous inspections throughout the examination period. The administration aims to ensure strict adherence to examination protocols while preventing any attempt to compromise the fairness of the recruitment process.

Authorities have imposed prohibitory orders around all examination centres to regulate public movement and maintain law and order during examination hours. Large contingents of police personnel have been deployed across districts, with security agencies directed to closely monitor suspicious individuals and anti-social elements that could interfere with the examination process.

The commission has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards cheating and examination malpractice. Officials warned that strict legal action would be initiated against any person, institution, or organisation found attempting to facilitate unfair means during the examination.

Such offences will be dealt with under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, a law enacted to curb examination fraud, paper leaks, impersonation, organised cheating, and other activities that threaten the credibility of public recruitment examinations. The legislation provides stringent penalties against individuals involved in compromising the confidentiality and integrity of competitive examinations conducted by the State.

Commission Chairman Prashant Kumar emphasised that maintaining transparency and public confidence remains the commission's highest priority. He stated that the government and the commission are fully committed to conducting the examination in a fair, secure, and integrity-driven manner.

Candidates have also been reminded that mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, earphones, or any other electronic gadgets will not be permitted inside examination centres. Strict frisking procedures and identity verification protocols will be followed before allowing candidates to enter examination halls.

Apart from security arrangements, district administrations have also established support mechanisms to assist candidates travelling from different parts of the State. Special arrangements have been made to provide assistance in case of transportation difficulties, medical emergencies, or accommodation-related issues, particularly for candidates appearing at centres located away from their hometowns.

Authorities have advised candidates to reach their allotted examination centres well before the reporting time to complete verification procedures without unnecessary delays. Since lakhs of candidates are expected to travel simultaneously over the three-day examination schedule, officials have urged applicants to carefully plan their journeys and avoid last-minute travel.

The commission has also appealed to candidates not to believe rumours circulating on social media regarding examination schedules, question papers, or recruitment-related information. Aspirants have been advised to rely only on official updates released through the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission's website and its verified social media platforms.

UPTET remains one of the most important gateway examinations for aspiring teachers in Uttar Pradesh, with its qualifying certificate serving as an essential prerequisite for future recruitment drives conducted by the State government. Every year, the examination witnesses participation from lakhs of graduates and teacher education candidates seeking stable careers in the education sector.

The successful conduct of an examination involving nearly 20 lakh candidates across hundreds of centres presents a significant administrative challenge. By combining AI-powered surveillance, extensive police deployment, senior administrative oversight, and strict legal enforcement, the Uttar Pradesh government aims to ensure that UPTET 2026 is conducted with complete transparency and credibility. As candidates prepare to take the examination over the next three days, the focus remains firmly on maintaining fairness, preventing malpractice, and protecting the integrity of one of India's largest teacher eligibility examinations.
