Boiler Blast at Vedanta Limited Plant in Chhattisgarh Kills 4, Injures Dozens.
A massive industrial tragedy struck a power facility operated by Vedanta Limited in the Sakti district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, resulting in the death of at least four workers and leaving 30 to 40 others with severe burn injuries.
The incident took place around 2 PM at the plant located in Singhitari village, within the jurisdiction of the Dabhra police station.
According to Superintendent of Police Praful Thakur, the explosion occurred during routine operational activities when a boiler suddenly burst, causing a powerful blast that engulfed nearby workers in flames. Several of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll may rise.
Initial findings indicate that a possible tube rupture inside the boiler may have led to the explosion, although authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause. The force of the blast caused panic across the facility, with workers scrambling to escape the affected area.
Rescue and relief operations were immediately launched, with teams from the police, fire brigade, and local administration rushing to the spot. The injured were swiftly transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.
Officials have stated that the situation is now under control, and a detailed investigation has been ordered to determine the precise cause of the accident and assess any lapses in safety protocols. The incident has once again raised serious concerns about industrial safety standards in high-risk facilities such as thermal power plants.
