Killed by a Wrong-Side Driver, Left Waiting for Help: Vadodara Accident Exposes Brutal Reality of Highway Negligence

A fatal road accident on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway (NH-48) near Sundarpura in Vadodara has once again highlighted serious concerns over road safety and emergency response.

Maksood Ansari (38), who was traveling with his wife and 11-year-old son, died after a car allegedly coming from the wrong side collided with their bike.

While his wife and son, who suffered severe head injuries, were rushed to Sayaji Hospital, locals claim the ambulance response was delayed, leaving the victim unattended for nearly two hours.

Eyewitnesses stated that the deceased was still breathing when help first arrived, but due to lack of space, only the injured were taken, and he died waiting for another ambulance. The incident triggered public outrage, leading to a highway blockade.

Residents have long demanded safety measures like an underpass or proper road cuts, blaming repeated accidents on administrative negligence and unchecked wrong-side driving.
